There's a reason for that: It means that there is a very strong magnetic field. Cassettes, VHS tapes, Floppy Disks and Credit cards are affected by magnetic fields. They can even loose the information stored on them. It must be a very old warning sign, since Cassettes, VHS tapes and Floppys aren't much in use these days. But Credit Cards still are, so be careful around that place.
